Labor should follow the work
Two roofs with the same area can require very different crew hours. A simple one-story gable is not equivalent to a steep roof with dormers, valleys, skylights and limited staging.

Separate base installation from repair labor
Deck replacement, fascia work, chimney rebuilding or major carpentry should not disappear inside a vague “labor” line.
Local market conditions matter
Labor availability, insurance, licensing, travel, seasonal demand and contractor overhead vary by location. This is why the roof calculator includes location sensitivity.
