This policy explains what information HomeCostEngine may process when you use our calculators, request an emailed report, subscribe to updates or interact with analytics and advertising technologies.
Calculator inputs
Most calculator interactions are designed to run in your browser. Inputs such as project dimensions, quantities, materials and planning assumptions are used to produce the estimate you request. If a calculator offers an emailed report and you choose to use it, the email address and project inputs needed to prepare that report may be sent to our website infrastructure and email service provider.
Email reports and optional marketing
When you request a project report, HomeCostEngine may use Brevo or another email delivery provider to send the requested message. A report request is treated separately from marketing consent. If you actively choose an optional marketing subscription, we may use your email address to send occasional home-cost tips, calculator updates and related content. Marketing messages include an unsubscribe option.
Website hosting and service providers
HomeCostEngine may use third-party providers such as Cloudflare for website hosting, delivery, security and server-side functions, and Brevo for email delivery. These providers may process technical information necessary to operate their services, such as IP address, browser or device information, request metadata and delivery logs, subject to their own terms and privacy practices.
Analytics, cookies and similar technologies
We may use analytics and performance tools to understand aggregate website usage, diagnose errors and improve calculators and content. These technologies may use cookies, local storage, device identifiers or similar mechanisms depending on the service and your browser settings. HomeCostEngine may display advertising, including advertising served through Google AdSense or related Google advertising services. Payments and digital purchases
When you purchase a digital book, payment is processed by Stripe. HomeCostEngine receives transaction information needed to confirm the purchase and provide the digital product, such as checkout status, product reference and purchaser email when supplied through checkout. We do not store full payment-card numbers on HomeCostEngine servers. Stripe processes payment information under its own privacy practices.
Links to other websites
Our guides may link to government agencies, standards organizations, manufacturers, service providers or other external resources. HomeCostEngine does not control the privacy practices of third-party websites. Review their policies when you leave our site.
Data retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was collected, to maintain service records, comply with applicable obligations, prevent abuse or resolve disputes. Retention periods can differ by service provider and type of record.
Your choices
You may choose not to request an emailed report, decline optional marketing, unsubscribe from marketing emails, adjust browser cookie settings, or use available advertising and consent controls.
